ProFolio was created by Zach Krasner, a young web developer and digital artist, in 2009. He studied many portfolio websites and realized that while there were many skilled artists and designers out there, not all of them could create a website to display their work. With this in mind, Krasner went to work creating a portfolio that could be used by everyone to show off their creative pieces either personally or professionally. ProFolio lets the visual artists share their work in a beautifully designed, clear and efficent way that is easy to use and manage.

View Your Work In A Professional, Elegant Way

With ProFolio, you are viewing art in an artistic way. It was designed to be professional, elegant, clean & simple. When you first view a ProFolio, you will see the background of the page with the unobtrusive portfolio navigation to the left. Simple click on portfolio to view the artist's work, and the other items will fade as small previews of the artwork fades into focus. It is truly a viewing experience.

When you click onto an item to view it, the piece is brought up in a "lighbox." This means that the screen fades to black as the piece appears in order to make the piece stand out to the viewer. The title and date the piece was added appear briefly over the piece, but then fade away to reveal the entirity of the artwork.

Easily Manage Your Pieces, Portfolio & Pages

Login. Add to portfolio. edit, delete, reorder. change settings. change pages and contact.

Whether you're a pro web developer or someone who's never written a line of code in their life, ProFolio is extremely easy to manage. Simply login by clicking a button in the top-right hand corner of your ProFolio, and once logged in, you can easily add pieces to your portfolio, manage your work, and edit your pages & options.

Adding your work to your ProFolio is as simple as everything else! Just give it a title, select a category, choose your file, and you have just expanded your portfolio by one. There are many different categories of portfolio items to add to, and these can be customized as well.

When managing your pieces in your portfolio, you are displayed a list of all your work. Just click on the name to edit the title, click the arrows to move the piece forward and backwards to make them display in whichever order you'd like. To remove a piece from your portfolio, just press the button and it's done!

All of your ProFolio options can be controlled when you click Change Settings & Pages. From here, you can edit your login username and password, change the name dislayed on your ProFolio, give a contact email address or phone number or update your About and Contact pages. Your contact page will automatically show any email or phone number that you provide.

Customize Your ProFolio To Make It Your Own

Bring your artistic ability one step further by cuztomizing your ProFolio. The background, colors, and text can all be easily changed with CSS. Don't worry if you don't know a thing about it though - you can check out the Customize page to follow some simple tutorials on making your ProFolio unique. You can also change the names of the available categories in which to submit your work, or add your own if you prefer. For backgrounds, use any picture, or choose a color or gradient. For the lightbox view, you can change the color that blocks out the rest of the screen from black to any color you choose. It's all very easy, and it makes your ProFolio a little more of who you are.

Get Your ProFolio Up & Running In Seconds

Getting your own ProFolio up and running is easy and fast. Once you've downloaded ProFolio, a detailed Read Me file is included that will help you install it. Basically, you upload the files to your web directory, change your config file in order to connect, and then run the install page! It's simple and once you press Install, you are fully functioning and ready to add to your ProFolio!

ProFolio Has A Couple Of Smart Tricks

ProFolio is built with HTML instead of Flash so that search engines can add your portfolio to their indexes. With other flash based portfolios, sites like Google and Yahoo can't read what's on your page, but ProFolio is fully searchable. This will help get your site to the top of searches so when people want to find your work, they can easily and quickly.

Many other available portfolios will work in only one type of browser, but ProFolio will work in Firefox 2 and up, Internet Explorer 7 and up, Safari, or any Mozilla based browser! That's good so if someone is looking at your work on their computer, you can be confident that the page displays the way you want it to display.

Speed is another great feature of ProFolio. Since your ProFolio is only one page, then once the page has loaded, there are no more page refreshes or waiting for other pages to come up.

Some Other Great Features of ProFolio

There are a couple other features that are pretty cool in ProFolio. First off, the beta feature of Animations is included, which means that you can add .swf flash files to your portfolio. It is still currently under development so it only works in all browsers besides Internet Explorer.

Another feature is the use of CSS 3. Most browsers only render CSS 2, but if you browser is capable of rendering CSS 3 (Firefox 3+ can do this), then the transparent black boxes that surround your about and contact page will have elegant curved corners, but otherwise, your ProFolio will use the default professional straight corners.

One of the best parts about ProFolio is that it's completely free. It is because Zach Krasner, the creator of ProFolio, wants every artist to be able to share his or her work. ProFolio will provide with a artistic place to share your artistic pieces.
